 God set apart Daniel and three other Jews in Babylonian exile, they eat only vegetables (not the royal food that defiles law) and are healthier and smarter to serve King Nebuchadnezzar.

 King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream and threatens to kill all his wise men if they cannot tell him his  dream and interpret it,  God allows Daniel to interpret dream and he is rewarded by the king.

 King Nebuchadnezzar builds a statue inspired by dream and requires all to bow or die,  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego will not (worshiping God alone) and are miraculously delivered from fiery furnace.

 Nebuchadnezzar has another dream of a great tree chopped down by an angel, only Daniel can interpret it and warns king, the tree represents the king's pending loss of sanity at the height of his reign.

 Years later King Belshazzer drinks from the temple goblets at a great feast mocking God and a hand  writes a mysterious message that again only Daniel can interpret, saying he will lose kingdom that very night.

Daniel distinguishes himself under new Persian King Darius but other leaders conspire and trick king into decree that throws Daniel into lion's den, an angel protects Daniel and the conspirators are fed to the lions.

Daniel recalls a disturbing dream of four terrifying beasts, he then interprets it as four great future kingdoms, he focuses on the 10 horned fourth beast destroyed to set up God's kingdom.

 Daniel recalls another surreal dream where a  ram is conquered by a shaggy goat dominated by one horn,  he interprets that this is Medio-Persia to be conquered by Greece.

Daniel prays humbly after Israel's  70 year exile, Gabriel assures restoration after 70 weeks (sevens) after decree, after 62  and 7 weeks  Messiah will make atonement then be cut off.

 Daniel after mourning  sees a scary vision of a angel like lightning who tells Daniel the future of his people,  he must protect Israel against demons of Persia and Greece.

Daniel prophesizes the coming Gentile kingdoms first Persia then Greece with emphasis on the final Roman emporer who dishonors God and wars against Israel.

  Daniel forsees distressing final judgment where all found in book are rescued, all others condemned,  angels on each side of river explain end times timing and order sealing of these words.

  During  Babylonian exile the prophet Ezekiel gives hope for a return to the city of Jerusalem where the land will be restored.   

Hosea - Harlotry (Next Book)

 God tells his prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute wife as a picture of the nation of Israel's unfaithfulness toward God, the nations sins are detailed.
