 God put Adam in paradise, the garden of Eden, to cultivate it and forbid Adam to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and God created Adam's one flesh wife as his helper out of  his side.

 The serpent (animal) deceives the woman and both Adam and Eve eat from the forbidden tree and reverse God's rule, so God steps in and curses the serpent and promises seed for the future of Adam and Eve now covered by the animal skin God provided.

 Adam and Eve have two sons one named Cain  who kills the other named Abel because Cain's sacrifice was not acceptable to God, so God curses Cain and his kind and Seth is introduced to carry forth God's plan.

 The genealogies and lifespans from Adam to Noah  and his three sons  are recorded for thousands of years all ending with the phrase "and he died" (except for Enoch).

 As man multiplies and fills the earth God sees all their deeds as corrupt so God tells Noah to build an Ark to escape the pending judgment of all mankind and animals remaining.

 Noah and his family and selected animals enter the ark 2 by 2 to escape the judgment of God which destroys every other breathing thing outside the ark.

 The water subsides and Noah and the animals make an altar to God and God promises stability in the weather of earth in spite of evil man.

 God repeats commands to man and animals to be fruitful from Eden to Noah and provides rainbow as promise to not repeat flood judgment, Noah becomes drunk and naked, Ham show disrespect to Noah and is cursed.

 Mankind comes together to build a tower to reach God, so God steps in and confuses their language, the genealogies of Shem are recorded from Shem to Abram.

 The Lord promises to make a great nation from Abram and bless all nations through him, he sojourns to Egypt for food and Pharaoh gets plagued because of Abraham's dishonesty.

 There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram and Lot so Abram gave Lot his choice of land and they separated, God promises Abram the land in every direction and numerous descendants (stars and sand).

 Several kings in the area were at war and one  took Abram's relative Lot as a captive, Abram and his men freed Lot then Melchizedek a king blessed Abram with bread and wine, Abram in return gave Melchizedek a tithe gift.

 Abrams wife Sarai convinces Abram to have a son with her  hand maiden Hagar Ishmael,  an Angel promises Hagar that her descendants also would be numerous, this creates tension between Sarai and Hagar.

  God renames Abraham and Sarah, God commands that all male descendants are to be circumcised as a sign of His covenant, Abraham laughs upon hearing God's promise of son Isaac because of his and Sarah's old age

The Lord appears to Abraham with three persons and again promises Abraham he will have a son with Sarah, she  overhears and laughs, the men of God set toward Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham negotiates with God regarding  judgment of  righteous in Sodom.

The two angels visit Lot in Sodom and warns Lot and his family they need to leave or perish, God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone Lot's family escapes except his wife then his two daughters conceive  with Lot in desperation.

 Abraham again lies about Sarah being his sister this time to King Abimelech who pursuits Sarah but God intervenes to warn Abimelech about  Sarah  and that Abraham is  God's prophet, Abimelech confronts Abraham.

 Issac is born, this creates friction between Sarah and Hagar, Hagar is expelled by Sarah, young  Ishmael cries to the Lord in the dessert and the Lord protects and provides for them, Abraham makes a peace covenant with Abimelech.

God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac Abraham binds Isaac and stretches his hand with knife then God sends an Angel to intervene and provides a ram for sacrifice then repeats blessings to Abraham.

Abraham's wife Sarah died in Hebron so Abraham acquires land there for her burial  for 400 shekels of silver , they wanted to gift Abraham the land but he insists on paying.

Abraham sends  his servant with specific instructions to choose a wife for Isaac, Rebekah waters his camels as a sign from God and she returns to be Isaac's wife

Abraham's  death and genealogy is recorded with Ishmael's, Rebekah has twins Esau and Jacob who tricks  Esau's birthright  from him for a bowl of stew.

God repeats blessing promises to Isaac in Gerar,   Isaac mirrors Abraham's lie about wife being sister there are quarrels over wells, peace  treaty with  king Abimelech is repeated.

Jacob gets a blessing that was intended for Esau by deceiving his father Isaac with fake hair and Rebekah's help, Esau threatens Jacob for this so he flees to Laban.

Jacob leaves Canaan to find a wife while traveling God speaks to Jacob in  a dream where he sees angels ascending and descending a ladder to heaven and God repeats His promise.

Jacob sees Rachel his love at  a well and agrees to work for Laban 7 years for her, Laban switches Leah  older daughter, requiring  7 more years of work  for Rachel, Leah provides Jacobs several sons.

God tells Jacob to flee from Laban then Laban tracks him down, God appears to Laban and they make a peace treaty and they agree to part ways in spite of past treacheries.

Jacob cautiously  returns to meet Esau, while traveling Jacob wrestles all night with a special man of God to get a  blessing,  this man renames him Israel and injures his hip.

Esau  joyfully embraces Jacob who returns home,  introduces his family to Esau and offers him  gifts and ends up buying land and settling in Shechem.

Dinah, Leah's daughter, is raped and desired  by one of the local men as a wife,  then Jacobs son's deceitfully require circumcision of all males and while they were sore they are all slain by Levi and Simeon as revenge.

The genealogy of Esau and his descendants is recorded, He is the father of all the Edomites their prosperity and possessions are recorded .

Joseph, (Jacobs favorite son) has dreams that his family will  bow to him, his brothers respond by selling Joseph  into slavery and deceiving Jacob claiming wild beasts killed Joseph with bloody tunic as proof.

Joseph interprets the two dreams correctly of the king's cup bearer and baker who were in prison with Joseph, the baker was killed and  the cup bearer was restored but forgot his promise to help Joseph.

Two years later king Pharaoh has a couple of dreams the cup bearer remembers Joseph who interprets the kings dreams about cows and grains this saves Egypt from coming famine Joseph is rewarded  with rule and starts family.

The famine hits Jacob's family Joseph's brother appear before him as dreamed unrecognized, Joseph tests  their submission by holding Simeon hostage and orders to see Benjamin.

Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers and they joyfully reunite as God's provision, Pharaoh insists and sends wagons to move  Joseph's whole family to Egypt, Jacob is thrilled.

 Joseph gets Pharaoh approval for Jacobs Canaan burial with chariots and great company in Abraham's field,  Joseph makes his sons swear to future Canaan burial .
