Ezekiel - Exile - BIBLE SUMMARY WITH ART

 The prophet Ezekiel describes the awesome vision he had of God that includes multi-spinning wheels, multiple faces,  and lots of  brilliant glowing metal gemstones and fire.

 Ezekiel fell flat on his face and God spoke and sent him to His rebellious people Israel, Ezekiel will carry  God's own words and he should not fear.

 Ezekiel eats God's sweet scroll then God orders Ezekiel to carry his message regardless of how it is received, Ezekiel is responsible to deliver the word.

 God has Ezekiel lay in public by clay model of Jerusalem and lay on his side one day for every year of Israel's sin (360 total) eating only dirty jarred "seized" food fortelling coming siege of city.

 The son of man will judge with a sharp sword and scales, Jerusalem will be judged a reproach among the nations that surround her, one third will perish.

God clearly states that He Himself  is going to bring the sword upon Israel for playing the harlot after idols, yet He will leave a remnant to trust in God alone.

  The day is near—tumult rather than joyful shouting on the mountains, My wrath is against Israel, the temple has been profaned so it wil be profaned by the hands of foreigners.

 Ezekiel is led on another vision with a fiery host and sees through walls all the hidden and detestable idol worship done in secret and in the open in Israel.

 Ezekiel sees six executioners with weapons in hand coming from the north, the cherebs are ordered to smite without pity, for the sin of Judah is very very great.

 Then he sees the glory of God departing from the temple in dramatic fashion through the eastern gate in the swirling wheels.

 Ezekiel sees 25 wicked rulers lined up at the eastern gate who are to be judged, God also promises future restoration to those exiled with a new heart of flesh not stone.

 God commands Ezekiel to pack his bags and prepare for exile so the wicked rulers will know it is God who has scattered His people.

 Ezekiel speaks out against the false prophets with magic bands who prophesize peace from their own inspiration, God will tear down their wall so they will know I am God.

 Elders who approach Ezekiel with idols are condemned, they will be cut off, they must repent, even Noah, Job, and Daniel would not be able to deliver their sons or daughters.

Jerusalem is compared to a useless vine to be dicarded and burned off,   "Thus I will make the land desolate, because they have acted unfaithfully,’” declares the Lord God.

 Jerusalem is compared graphically to a helpless  orphaned abandoned baby girl that is rescued and saved then reared adorned and nutured by God who then grows up to be a shameless prostitute paying to service other nations.

 Ezekiel tells a parable comparing Jerusalem to a vine branch being uprooted by two mighty eagles Babylon and Egypt, ultimate restoration with God Himself planting the vine is promised.

 Ezekiel explains that all will be judged, those who live righteously will live, and the wicked will perish for their own sin, if the righteous man sins he will die, if the wicked man repents he will live.

 This lament compares the princes of Israel to lion cubs who grew up to be strong and rule but ended trapped in a pit by the other nations, and then to strong vines that were uprooted and left in the desert.

 Elders come to Ezekiel looking for a message from God, he gives them a lengthy summary of how God delivered His people from Egypt and how they repeatedly returned to idols and rebel.

 Babylon is going to be used as God's sword of judgment, the sword has been sharpened, groan and wail, idolic divination will drive Babylon to slaughter both Judah and Amon.

Jerusalem is personified as a woman pending judgment for her many sins which are detailed emphasizing idolotry and innocent bloodshed.

 The two sister women of Israel (Judah and Israel) expicitly prostitute themselves one worse than the other to the Assyrians and other nations being abused mistreated, they return shamelessly and repeatedly.

 Israel is compared to a pot of boiling meat that is defiled and dumped out,  the death of Ezekiels wife is a sign of pending judgment to Jerusalem.

 Judgment of the neighboring gentile nations is pronounced, - Ammon, Moab, Edom and Phistia will be judged for rejoicing over Israel's fall.

 Ezekiel pronounces judgment on Tyre for plundering conquered Jerusalem,  she will become a place to spread fishnets.

 Ezekiel takes up a lament over Tyre, she was a beauty on the edge of the sea, the center of worldwide trade, once strong now shattered the merchants will scoff at you. 

 A prophesy against the king of Tyre proud as if he is god, the king is then pictured in the garden of Eden perfect in beauty but because of pride  thrown to earth, Sidon's demise  is also assured.

 God commands Ezekiel to pronouce judgment upon Egypt under the sword of Nebuchadnezzar , the Nile is the Lord's " I will put hooks in your jaws",  Egypt will be a desolation for 40 years.

 There will be weeping and distress when the sword comes upon  Egypt, I will break Pharoah's arm and strengthen the king of Babylon's hand and they will know that I am the Lord

   Pharoah is warned of how Assyria was great with tall beautiful trees like the garden of Eden yet it fell  and went down to Sheol. 

 Egypt is illustrated as a great sea monster netted by the Lord landed and feasted upon by all the other nations, she will make her bed in Sheol with all the other uncircumcised.

 Ezekiel is God's appointed watchman responsible to forsee God's hand of judgment coming and warn the people so they repent from their abominations.

 Ezekiel condemns the shepherds of Israel who didn't protect the flock, these are the leaders of Israel, God Himself will intervene as the good shepherd and care for his people.

 Ezekiel sets his face against Mt. Seir and Edom and prophesized the judgment of the Lord  against them , filling the mountains with their slain.

 Ezekiel prophesied fruitfulness for the mountains of Israel and the future renewal and restoration of Israel for the sake of God's holy name.

 God shows Ezekiel a vision of an army of dry bones taking on flesh and coming to life as a promise of the future eternal restoration of Israel under King David's line.

 God shows Ezekiel the coming great victory over Gog and Magog and all rebellious nations with a great earthquake and mountains overturned. 

   God will utterly destroy the rebellion of Gog against Israel, on that day the animals will feast on the bodies, I will bury them in Israel so God will retain all the glory

 The  rooms, gates, lay out and numerous details  of the future temple of Israel are measured precisely and promised.

 The inner area of the new temple is described and also carefully measured,  they are carved with cherubim and palm trees.

 Ezekiel continues to describe details of the chambers of the new temple with special  attention given to  the Holy of Holies.  

 Ezekiel is taken to a vantage point so he can see the glory of the Lord fill the temple, Israel  will be God's people for eternity, sacrifices are made by Levitical priests. 

The eastern gate is where the prince will enter,  it is to remain shut for Him, God's people  will never again profane this temple with idols, Levitical priests will resume their duties..

 Portions of the land are allotted as an inheritance with the prince given a special allottment, a bull is sacrificed.

 The prince makes special  offerings on the sabbath of the new moon entering and exiting by way of the porch of the gate.

 The river that supplies life will be sourced in the temple, the boundary for inheretances for the 12 tribes is alotted.

   The allotment and borders of the 12 tribes is revealed including portions for the priests, prince, other tribes and the measuring of the gate.

 Jeremiah laments over the sins of Zion (Jerusalem) which has kindled the wrath of God as some of the horrors of the siege are described,  ultimately the prophet hopes in the refuge of God's mercy.  

 Daniel and other righteous Jews represent God in Babylonian exile , Daniel interprets the dreams of king Nebuchadnezzar that sees the future of Jews under four Gentile kingdoms until  final rule by the Son of Man.
